Dutchess County Hosts Earth Day Celebration Saturday

Everyday should be Earth Day

Dutchess County will celebrate Earth Day with a free event on Saturday (April 26) at the Environmental Cooperative at the Vassar Barns in Poughkeepsie. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is designed to promote environmental education and community engagement. Activities will include nature journaling and interactive displays on composting, recycling, and waste reduction.

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino emphasized the importance of Earth Day, stating, "Earth Day is a great reminder that even the smallest steps can lead to big change."The event aims to inspire residents of all ages to take action in protecting the planet and will highlight sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Kerry Russell, Deputy Commissioner of the County’s Division of Solid Waste Management, noted the significance of community involvement, saying, "By coming together as a community we can learn the importance of living more sustainably and the positive impact it can have for all of us."The event will bring together local organizations eager to share their knowledge and foster a greater understanding of environmental issues.
