New York is celebrating its first-ever Craft Beer Day, highlighting the state's booming craft beer industry. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the occasion, noting that New York is the second largest craft beer market in the United States, with over 500 independent craft breweries supporting 22,000 jobs. The industry generates nearly $5 billion in revenue for the state.

To mark the day, New Yorkers can download the free Official New York State Craft Beer App, which provides a map of every brewery in the state. This initiative aims to promote local economies and jobs by encouraging visits to these breweries.

Trevor Davis, general manager of Horseheads Brewing Company, expressed optimism about the day's impact, stating, "It's going to be great for our industry...I believe this day is going to continue to help us grow in the State." According to WENY, the craft beer industry in New York is not just a hobby but a significant economic contributor.

Governor Hochul praised the creativity and dedication of the craft brewers, owners, and customers who keep these small businesses thriving. She emphasized the historical significance of beer in New York, dating back to the early 1600s when the first known brewery was established in what is now Manhattan.

As New Yorkers raise a glass to their local breweries, Governor Hochul reminds everyone to celebrate responsibly.
