The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department is hosting a holiday blanket drive to help residents in need stay warm this winter. The drive will take place this Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Poughkeepsie Police Department, located at 505 Main Street.
The initiative aims to collect new blankets, which will be distributed to individuals struggling to keep warm during the cold months. Officer Danielle Costa, who is leading the effort, told Mid-Hudson News that this is the first time the department is organizing a blanket drive. "Our officers are constantly seeking new ways to help those members of the community that are struggling," Costa said.
The collected blankets will be distributed to various groups in need, including senior and veteran housing, if enough donations are received. The police department encourages community members to participate and support this cause.
