The president of New York City's largest police says Governor Kathy Hochul is soft on crime. PBA President Patrick Lynch released a statement Friday, calling the changes to the state's controversial bail reform laws in the proposed state budget "political window dressing."

Lynch said the changes "won't do much to change the reality" on city streets, where crime is up 30% this year.

Lynch warned that once the budget that was agreed upon Thursday by Hochul and legislative leaders passes, Democrat lawmakers will be ready "to push their next slate of anti-police measures."
