The Capital Region has surpassed another grim milestone as the number of deaths connected to COVID-19 rises past 750.

Data shows the local death toll is currently increasing at its quickest pace since the pandemic started last March. In January alone, 202 people in the area have passed away after contracting the illness. That's already higher than the month of December when 140 deaths were reported.
