Kelly Clarkson Reveals How She's 'Cleansed' Herself Amid 'Horrible' Divorce

Kelly Clarkson made it a priority to "feel cleansed" amid her "horrible" divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

During the Tuesday (December 8) episode of her daytime talk show, the singer spoke with guest Fran Drescher, relating to the ways in which The Nanny star went through her own divorce from Peter Marc Jacobson, the co-creator of the show. "When I bought this house, I was getting a divorce from my first husband and I was still on the show The Nanny and my life was very complicated and intense and busy," Drescher sad in reference to her marriage to Jacobson, which occurred from 1978 to 1999. "I needed something that was extremely calming and very pristine to make me feel very peaceful."

Clarkson was quick to agree with Drescher's sentiments, admitting that it felt like the actress was in her "last therapy session." "I got a new house, it’s very white and clean [for] the same reasoning," she confessed of her reorganizing. "And I also redid my office here [at the show]. I looked at Kevin in our art department and I was like, 'Please help me make this make sense.'"

Clarkson went as far as confessing that the alterations she did made her "feel cleansed" of the hardships that come with divorce. "I just wanted to feel happy," she continued. "The colors make me feel very good."

As you know, Clarkson and Blackstock split in June after almost seven years of marriage. The pair, who share River, 6, and Remington, 4, initially requested joint legal and physical custody, but it was Clarkson who was awarded primary custody of the children. Since the ruling, it's been reported that Blackstock is seeking $436,000 a month for spousal and child support. "Brandon's been equally unreasonable in his requests for child and spousal support, as well as attorney fees," an insider told PEOPLE at the time. "Kelly's offered to pay for all the kids' expenses, but Brandon seems to think he is entitled to and needs $301K in spousal support and $135K in child support per month."
