Chatham man found guilty of two attempted rapes

36 year old Andrew Gombar of Chatham was found guilty today in Berkshire superior court, of attempting to abduct and rape two women, in separate incidents, in Berkshire County Massachusetts.

Both crimes happened in 2018, the first in January, outside a store in Great Barrington. The second was in July, on a trail in Lenox.

In both cases, the women were able to get away and call police. The July crime happened while Gombar was out on bail following the first crime.

The judge in the case, Judge John Agostini found Andrew Gombar, 36, guilty of assault with intent to commit rape, assault and battery, kidnapping, and assault and battery with intent to commit rape.

A date for sentencing has not been set.
