Parts of the area may see some ice tonight

A winter weather advisory has been posted for most of Columbia and Greene Counties.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS

AFTERNOON TO 7 AM EST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet

accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around

a glaze to a tenth of an inch. Greater ice accumulation of up to

a third of an inch across the higher terrain.

* WHERE...The Capital District, mid Hudson Valley, central and

southern Taconics, and southern Litchfield County.

* WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 7 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Some power outages and tree damage are possible due to

the ice. Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions

will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow, sleet and ice accumulations will vary

from location to location due to variations in timing of

different precipitation types.

Western Greene County is under an Ice Storm Warning:

ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON

TO 7 AM EST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Significant icing expected due to freezing rain. Total

snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch and ice

accumulations of a half to three quarters of an inch.

* WHERE...Schoharie, Western Schenectady, Western Albany,

Western Greene and Western Ulster Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 7 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Expect power outages and tree damage due to the ice.

Travel could be impossible. The hazardous conditions will

impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Freezing rain could mix with some sleet

late Monday into Monday evening.
