William Hines was sentenced to prison Tuesday in Columbia County Court. The Niverville man plead guilty earlier this year to drug possession charges, following a march traffic stop.
The Columbia County D.A.'s office says he was sentenced to one and a third to 3 tears.

DEPUTIES SIEZE COCAINE AND HEROIN ON A TRAFFIC STOP
Kinderhook, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that a Niverville man was arrested on Tuesday March 19, 2019 for a felony drug charge after a vehicle stop for a traffic infraction on County Route 28 in the Town of Kinderhook.
On March 19, 2019 at approximately 3:39pm, Deputy Steven Rose was on routine patrol and observed a 2006 Kia traveling westbound on County Route 28 with a registration violation. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop and approached the vehicle where he encountered two occupants. During the traffic stop, the passenger attempted to conceal and then destroy illegal drugs that were in his possession. Deputies located and recovered approximately 4.8 grams of cocaine and about 4.9 grams of heroin.
William T. Hines, 48, of Niverville N.Y., was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree (Class C Felony), Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class E Felony), and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor). Mr. Hines was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Dellehunt in Kinderhook Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail with no bail. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Kinderhook Town Court on March 25, 2019.
