Greenport Fire and Rescue were called to a one car accident on Route 23, before the Greenport Roundabout Monday morning, just after 7.
A car had crashed through the rail fence, took down a sign, and went down an embankment, ending up in a swamp.
According to police on the scene, there was no driver. They said, a woman had reported to them Sunday that she had "lost" her car. Well, it was found this morning in the swamp.
They said they know who the woman is, and she was currently in the Albany area.
Greenport Police, The Columbia County Sheriff's Office, and State Police were all on the scene.
