State Troopers and their bloodhound track and arrest stolen car suspect

Livingston, New York – On December 11, 2019, state troopers from Troop K – Zone 1 in Columbia County arrested Calvin Lipscomb, age 24, of Camillus, NY for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law charges.
Shortly after 11:00pm, Lipscomb was stopped by Trooper Jayson Sullivan of the Livingston barracks for speeding on State Route 82 in Livingston. After providing Trooper Sullivan with a false ID card, Lipscomb sped away and led troopers on a chase that ended on Spring Road in Livingston.
Lipscomb exited the vehicle, which had been stolen from Westchester County, and fled on foot. Trooper Justin Bell and his K9 bloodhound Tilly responded to the scene, and with the assistance of Investigator Brendan Filli and Zone 1 patrols, tracked the suspect for 3 miles where he was subsequently found hiding in the rafters of a barn on Blue Valley Road in Livingston.
Lipscomb was taken into custody without further incident. Troopers were also assisted at the scene by Columbia County Sheriff’s Office patrols.
Captain David Kolb, Zone Commander in Columbia County, commended the patrols on the scene for their tenacity in locating Lipscomb. “The suspect was not from the local area, had no idea where he was, and the temperatures were in the teens. Trooper Bell and his partner Tilly are excellent at tracking, and through a team effort this incident was successfully resolved with no one being hurt.”
Lipscomb was processed at SP Livingston, arraigned in Claverack Court, and remanded to the Columbia County Jail on bail.
