East Chatham man pleads guilty to felony sex charges

An East Chatham man plead guilty Wednesday to 1 count of Criminal Sex Act, 3rd degree, in Columbia County Court. 53 year old Daniel Bemiss was arraigned on the charges in June. The Columbia County D.A's office says the victim was under 17, and the crime took place in 2010. He's scheduled to be sentenced February 10th.

On June 17, 2019, DanielBemiss waived indictment and was arraigned in County Court upon being charged with two (2) Counts of Criminal Sex Act in the 1st Degree; two (2) Counts of Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree; two (2) Counts of Criminal Sex Act in the 2nd Degree; three (3) Counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the 3rd Degree; Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree; and two (2) Counts of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree, Honorable Richard M. Koweek presiding. 

The Court scheduled a trial for April 6, 2020. The New York State Police investigated this matter and arrested DanielBemiss. John Hillman represents DanielBemiss.  DanielBemissis presumed to be innocent unless and until the People can prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt to all twelve (12) of twelve (12) jurors. (SCI No. 064-19)

You are seeing the governor's face instead of a mugshot of Daniel Bemiss. Because of his rules with mugshots, State Police were unable to release one, even though Bemiss admitted to the crime.
