Hudson raid turns up drugs, handguns, and cash

Press Release – Hudson Man Possessed Drugs & Handguns

A one-month long joint police operation involving the Hudson Police Department and NY State Police, joined by the Columbia County Sheriff and Columbia County District Attorney’s Office led to the arrest of a Hudson man for weapons and drug possession.

Arrested today was ZACHARY A. LEWIS , (aka “Splat”), age 27, of 541 State St., Apt. #2, Hudson, NY. He’s been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd (C fel) four counts Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd (B felony), two counts Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th (C fel), with other charges pending.

On November 21, 2019 the NY State Police, assisted by HPD, executed a search warrant at 541 State Street, the residence of ZACHARY A. LEWIS. Seized in the apartment were 2 handguns, 6 grams cocaine, 13 grams MDA (ecstasy), a large quantity of ammunition, along with $9523 in cash. Police searched LEWIS’s car, a blue 2003 Mercedes, parked near N 7th Street and seized 6 additional handguns.

Arrested in the apartment were GLORIA A. LEWIS, age 62, (Zachary Lewis’s mother) and LORENZO L. CHARLTON, age 35, (Zachary Lewis’s brother) Gloria Lewis was charged with Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 4th Degree. She was arraigned in front of Hudson City Court Judge Brian Herman and released. Charlton was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th and issued an appearance ticket. Both reside at 541 State St.

ZACHARY LEWIS was not located on 11/21/19 and remained at large until today. All seized property has been sent to the NYSP Laboratory. The origin of the handguns remains under investigation.

This morning, 12/11/19, a team made up of New York State Troopers, HPD , and Federal Marshals from the Violent Fugitive Task Force located LEWIS leaving 335 Allen Street in Hudson and stopped him in the driveway of a residence off Mt. Merino Rd. in the Town of Greenport. He was taken into custody, and with the assistance of the Columbia County District Attorney’s office, the team executed a search warrant at 335 Allen Street. Seized at that location was 51 grams of heroin/fentanyl mixture, 17 grams of powdered cocaine, 13 grams of crack cocaine, and $1773 dollars in cash.

LEWIS was arraigned in front of Hudson City Court Judge Herman and was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5000 bail/$10,000 bond.
