Eight area fire companies participated in a water supply drill Sunday morning in Greenport.
Greenport fire chief John Onufrychuk said the purpose of this drill, was to test how well they could pump water up a long distance. That's why Mt. Merino was chosen as the location, due to it's elevation.
The drill began at 9 and included Greenport, Hudson, Claverack, Stottville, West Ghent, Livingston, Germantown, and Leeds.
Traffic along Route 9G and on Mt. Merino Road, was down to one lane.
