Woman who brought heroin into Columbia County Jail, going to prison

On July 11, 2019, Honorable Jonathan D. Nichols sentenced Meghan Herchenroder to two (2) to four (4) years with the New York State Department of Corrections upon her conviction by plea of Attempted Possessing Dangerous Contraband in the 1st Degree. Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett's Office investigated this matter and arrested Meghan Herchenroder. The Public Defender represents Meghan Herchenroder. (SCI No. 057-19)

Meghan S. Herchenroder, 29, of Rennselaer, was arrested on a warrant at 5:00pm April 21 and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree (Class D Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) by Deputies Kris Bauhoff and Daniel Keyser. Herchenroder is accused of bringing a quantity of heroin into the Columbia County Jail. She was arraigned in Greenport Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail/$2,000 bond. She will appear back in court at a later date.
