Cold Case Tuesday: Troop F continues to investigate the 49-year-old homicide of an unidentified male subject in Ulster County.

State Police in Kingston continue to investigate the 1970 murder of an unidentified male subject in Saugerties, NY.

On February 1, 1970, the body of an unidentified white male was located down an embankment off of Platte Clove Road in West Saugerties, NY. The victim was located with multiple gunshot wounds to the back of the head. The investigation revealed that the victim was most likely killed at another location, then dumped off Platte Clove Road.

The victim was described as a white male, approximately 35-45 years old, 5’03, 155 pounds, with dark brown wavy hair. The victim was located fully clothed wearing the a ¾ length tan/brown reversible raincoat, a green business suit, a white dress shirt, a black silk tie with the label “Playboy,” black leather shoes (size 8.5), gray socks, and black rubber overshoes (medium). It should be noted that the victim was wearing pajamas underneath his business suit. Additionally, the victim was found to be wearing an imitation ruby ring with a gold setting and an Omega gold wrist watch.

Although the victim was shot in the back of the head, his face was fully intact and should be identifiable. To date, the victim in this investigation has never been identified and the case remains an open homicide.

Recently, a forensic sketch artist created an artistic rendering of the victim based on the crime scene and autopsy photos. The sketch is being disseminated in hopes of finally identifying the victim of this homicide.
