American Red Cross Aids Three After Lexington Fire

(POUGHKEEPSIE, NY) (JUNE 16, 2019) - Volunteers from the Northeastern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to three people after a fire Saturday night on Route 23A in Lexington, Greene County. 

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to two adults and one 4 year old child. Volunteers also offered emotional support, health services and comfort kits containing personal care items, as well as a stuffed animal for the child. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery. 

A Greene County home was hit by fire Saturday evening.

The call came in just before 6:30 at 11548 Route 23A in Lexington.

Prattsville firefighters were called in to assist, along with Ashland Ambulance and Greene County Medics.

The fire was reported knocked down in about 45 minutes.

No word yet on the cause or any injuries.
