On April 28, 2019, State Police in Saratoga arrested 35-year-old Derrick O. Williams of Saratoga, for Tampering with Evidence, Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of Marihuana 5th degree, and Public Lewdness.

State Police stopped a vehicle traveling on I-87 in Ballston Spa shortly before 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning, after the operator committed a traffic infraction. When Troopers approached the car, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the interior.

Upon speaking with the driver, Williams, they observed marijuana in his lap and on the floorboards of the vehicle. Williams was asked to exit the car and escorted to the rear, where he immediately began to urinate in the roadway, and tossed a clear baggie of marijuana under the vehicle in an attempt to conceal it.

As Troopers moved to place Williams in custody, they observed that he also had marijuana in his mouth. After actively resisting arrest, Williams was successfully secured and the marijuana removed. A search of the vehicle revealed that Williams was in possession of more than 25 grams of marijuana.

He was subsequently transported to SP Saratoga for processing.

Williams was arraigned in Malta Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
