Convicted rapist sentenced to prison

22 year old Marvin Vasquez-Morales of Copake was sentenced to prison Thursday in Columbia County Court.

The Columbia County D.A.'s officer says he will serve 3 1/2 years, for the rape of a 13 year old.

He plead guilty to the charges in February.

Copake, New York – On September 20, 2018, the New York State Police from Livingston in conjunction with the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center arrested Marvin R. Vasquez Morales, age 21, of Copake, for Rape in the 2nd degree, a class D felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

On September 12, 2018, information was provided to the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center regarding the possible rape of a child in Copake. Investigation revealed Morales and the thirteen-year-old child were familiar with one another. They began an intimate relationship earlier this year resulting in sexual contact.

Morales was arraigned before the town of Clermont Court, and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail. Morales is next scheduled to appear before the Court on September 27, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.
