Drug Dealer, who was arrested on Amtrak train in Hudson, pleads guilty

On March 15, 2019, Connell Johnson was convicted by plea, as indicted, of two (2) Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; and Obstructing Governmental Administration, Honorable Richard M. Koweek presiding. The Court will sentence Connell Johnson on May 20, 2019. Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett's Office investigated this matter and arrested Connell Johnson. John McFadden represents Connell Johnson. (Indictment No. 19-002)

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS DRUG DEALER FROM BROOKLYN

Hudson, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that a Brooklyn man was arrested on Thursday, January 10, 2019.

Members of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement and Education Unit conducted a month long investigation into a subject transporting narcotics from New York City with the intent to sell them in Columbia County. Plain clothed Investigators and uniformed Deputies conducted surveillance at the Hudson Amtrak station on Thursday evening January 10th, 2019.

At approximately 10:57pm, Deputies detained Connell Johnson, age 41, of Brooklyn New York after he exited a northbound passenger train at the station. A search warrant for his person and belongings was signed by Columbia County Court Judge Richard Koweek. As a result of this investigation, Johnson was found to be in possession of over 42 grams of crack cocaine which investigators believe he intended to sell in this area.

Mr. Johnson was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree-one or more preparations of a narcotic drug (Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree with intent to sell (Class B Felony), and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).

He was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Porecca in Greenport Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail with no bail. The defendant is scheduled to appear back in Greenport Town Court on January 14, 2019 at 3:00pm.

Assisting the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office were the City of Hudson Police Department and the Office of the Columbia County District Attorney.
