Hillsdale man faces long list of charges after traffic accident

Timothy Shufelt, 30, of Hillsdale, was arrested at 4:01pm March 6 and charged with Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree (Class E Felony), Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Public Lewdness (Class B Misdemeanor), DWI, Aggravated DWI (Both Class U Misdemeanors), crossed road hazard markings, unsafe tires, operating out of restrictions, and consuming alcohol in motor vehicle (All Traffic Infractions) by Deputies Samantha Plass and Joseph Kilmer.

Columbia County 911 detailed Deputies for a property damage accident on State Route 22, just south of State Route 23 in the Town of Hillsdale. The operator of the vehicle, a Timothy Shufelt, was traveling northbound veering off the road and striking a sign post. Shufelt was administered field sobriety, which he failed. A breathalyzer test was administered resulting in a .29% BAC.

Shufelt is also accused of damaging property at the Sheriff’s Office Hillsdale Sub-Station while he was being processed. He was arraigned in Hillsdale Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond. He is scheduled back in court on March 20.
