Greenport man faces charges from incident at Windham school

A Greenport man has been identified as the individual pictured below on the security camera.

In regards to the incident at Windham Ashland Jewett school today; the individual, David M. Petricini, 35, of Greenport, has been located and questioned. There was no direct threat made to the school and the safety of students, faculty, or staff was never compromised.

The individual responsible is still going to be charged due to the circumstances surrounding his attempted visit to the school and his failure to properly identify himself which caused the investigation to be initiated.

The Windham Ashland Jewett School administration followed all proper protocols for this type of incident and went over and above to ensure safety. The Greene County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Police, the Windham Police Department, the Hudson Police Department, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office all worked collaboratively to ascertain the proper identification of this individual and to eliminate any further questions.

We extend our thanks to the public for their efforts in this endeavor and want to remind the community that the safety of our students is paramount. Please don't be alarmed if there is a heavier than normal police presence in the area of the school in the coming days, it is just to provide the students and staff with a stronger sense of security.
