Hudson sex offender pleads guilty to new charges

On February 28, 2019, El-Jalon Thornton was convicted by plea, as indicted, of Failure to Register/Verify as a Sex Offender, 2nd Offense, Honorable Jonathan D. Nichols presiding. The Court will sentence El-Jalon Thornton on April 18, 2019. The Hudson Police Department investigated this matter and arrested El-Jalon Thornton. The Public Defender represents El-Jalon Thornton. (Indictment No. 19-001)

Thornton was the subject of a search in August 2018 by Hudson Police for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender.

Level III Sex Offender Arrested

On January 3, 2017, the Hudson City Police Department arrested 23 year old, El-Jalon Thornton of Hudson, New York on Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both class A Misdemeanors. El-Jalon Thornton is a New York State Level III (highest level) Registered Sex Offender and currently on New York State Parole. Consequently, a New York State Parole Warrant was also issued and executed.

Recently the Hudson Police Department’s Detective Division developed new information. It was learned that in November of 2016, El-Jalon Thornton again had contact with a juvenile victim on Front Street in the area of the Promenade Hill Park.

On April 30, 2015, El-Jalon Thornton was arrested by HPD for Violating the Sex Offender Registry Requirement – 1st Offense, a Felony Offense. El-Jalon Thornton was convicted of this charge on December 2, 2015.

On January 3, 2017, El-Jalon Thornton was arraigned in the Hudson City Criminal Court before Judge Connor. He was remanded to the Columbia County Jail on $1,000/$2,000 cash/ bond . He is due back to Court on January 10, 2017 at 830am.
