Bad weather coming Tuesday, Some snow emergencies

Another round of winter weather is expected to arrive in Greene and Columbia Counties tomorrow. The National Weather service has us under a winter storm watch:

WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING

THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

*WHAT ...Potential for heavy snow Tuesday changing to sleet and

freezing rain Tuesday evening into Tuesday night. Total snow

accumulations of 5 to 9 inches and ice accumulations of one to

two tenths of an inch possible. Winds could gust as high as 45

mph, mainly across the higher terrain.

* WHERE ...The Capital District, Schoharie Valley, eastern

Catskills, northern and central Taconics, and Greene, Ulster,

and Columbia Counties in eastern New York, as well as the

Berkshires of western Massachusetts.

* WHEN ...From Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS ...Travel could be very difficult. The

hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening commute.

Snowfall rates could exceed an inch per hour, and is expected to

mix with sleet by Tuesday evening.

In Catskill:

SNOW EMERGENCY

February 11, 2019

Due to the forecast of snow; the parking plan of snow removal for the Village of Catskill will be initiated on Tuesday evening, February 12th, 2019 at 8 P.M. All vehicles need to be parked on the odd side of the street from 8 PM – 8AM. Vehicles then need to be moved and parked on the even side of Village Streets from 8A.M. – 8 P.M. Vehicles will continue to alternate sides of the street every 12 hours, until the snow emergency has been cancel...ed. Parking enforcement will remain in effect until all snow is removed from Village streets.

Effective February 12th, 2019 from 11 pm until 8am there will be no parking on Main Street from Greene Street to Summit Avenue each evening to ensure that Main Street is one of the first streets to be cleared of snow. Residents who usually park on Main Street should utilize the municipal parking lots.

Any vehicle parked on the roadway in violation of Article 6 Section 103, subdivision 2 of the Village of Catskill parking regulations which hinder the removal of snow will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

In Athens:

Snow Emergency Starting: Tuesday, February 12, 2019 Whenever snow is forecasted by the National Weather Service, alternate side of the street parking will be in effect on ALL streets located within the Village of Athens, regardless of posting. All vehicles will be parked on the even side of the street from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and the odd side of the street from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. This alternate side parking will be in effect until snow is removed from the street.
