Sheriff's Deputy honored for saving a life on campus

HUDSON, N.Y. --  Deputy Sheriff Patrick Mayo, currently assigned to Columbia-Greene Community College, has been presented with the Life Saving Award by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

The award is presented to members of the Sheriff’s office in recognition of an act performed in the line of duty, which through disregard for personal safety or prompt and alert action, results in the saving of a life.

Mayo, who resides in Claverack and has served with the Sheriff’s office since 2013, was formally recognized by Sheriff David P. Bartlett on Friday, Feb. 1 for his response to a medical emergency on campus during the Fall 2018 semester. He received an official citation and a life-saving commendation bar.
