Valatie nursing home holds winter clothing drive

Staff and families of The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Barnwell recently concluded a winter accessories clothing drive for Columbia Opportunities Inc., a Hudson-based non-profit organization whose mission is to solve poverty-related problems in the community.

Over the past month, The Grand collected 32 hats, 108 pairs of gloves and mittens, five scarves and five sets of hats/mittens/scarves totaling more than $460. “This is our second year doing the drive and we are thrilled to have collected even more items this year,” said Bridget Delcoure, director of recreation, The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Barnwell. “We have had some really cold weather in recent weeks, and every donation plays an important role in keeping those in need a little bit warmer.”
