Vehicle Break-Ins

On Saturday, May 8, 2021at 9:20pm HPD received a report that 4 vehicles had been broken into at the employees’ parking lot of the Fireman’s Home, 125 Harry Howard Avenue. All 4 vehicles had windows smashed and thieves took wallets, purses, and cash. All together there was around $500 stolen as well as 2 wallets, 2 purses, checkbooks, and numerous credit & debit cards.

That evening the thieves then attempted to secure goods and cash at the Wal-Mart in Greenport by utilizing the stolen cards. Information indicates they may have been able to steal at least $600 in cash utilizing one of the cards.

The suspects are described as one male and one female. The woman is described as in her 20’s, grey sweatshirt. The man is in his 20’s, dark ball cap, black mask, blue long sleeved shirt with an “MTV” logo on it.

HPD has been working closely with the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center, New York State Police, Greenport Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff, and Wal-Mart Loss Prevention Unit.
