STUYVESANT—State Police from Livingston arrested Diana L. Huyck, 52, of Stuyvesant for second degree murder, a class A-I felony, April 17.
Troopers responded to a reported stabbing on Dolly Drive in Stuyvesant, April 16 at 6:14 p.m.
When they arrived they found the victim, John K. Ford, 50, of Austerlitz unresponsive and attempted life-saving-measures. Mr. Ford succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead by responding emergency medical personnel, according to State Police.
A preliminary investigation indicates Ms. Huyck allegedly stabbed Mr. Ford during a domestic dispute, police said.
DA Paul Czajka described the relationship between Ms. Huyck and Mr. Ford as “longtime acquaintances” who lived together “on and off.”
Mr. Czajka said the weapon was a steak knife.
County Judge Jonathan Nichols signed a search warrant executed by law enforcement as part of the investigation.
Ms. Huyck was arraigned in Stuyvesant Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance. Her April 21 court appearance was adjourned. She is represented by Conflict Public Defender John Leonardson.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, the Columbia County Coroner’s Office, Troop K Forensic Investigation Unit and Troop K Major Crimes Unit all investigated on the scene.
