Cairo-Durham High student picked for NAF Music Education event!
According to the Daily Freeman, Cairo-Durham High student Drew Sirago chosen for National Association for Music Education event on Friday April 23rd!
Drew Sirago is a senior at Cairo Durham High School and has been selected to participate in the National Association for Music Education's 2021 All-Eastern Honors Mixed Chorus Ensemble!
Sirago has spend the last five years attending lessons and also staying after school to his master technical and artistic skills. Attending these lessons has prepared him to perfect New York State School Association solos, which serve as audtitions for high ranking music ensembles!
To be a part of this event Sirago was required to sight-read music at each association festival. In all this meant he had two minutes to review a new piece of music and then attempt to accurately perform it. When doing this Sirago repeatly received perfect scores from state music judges, no matter the level and difficulty of the music he performed.
The " Virtual Weekend" for the All- Eastern is a very unique experience that is non-traditional. This year the students will individually record their performances from their homes, but it will be led by a virtual performance conductor. One the recordings are edited together it will be part of the virtual ensemble for the concert performance. The concert performance will premier on Friday, April 23rd at 8:30pm at the 57th National Association for Music Education's Eastern Division Virtual In-Serivce Conference!
