HUDSON—City Police arrested a parolee following a domestic dispute, October 21.
Jordan Couitt, 29, of Hudson was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing/blood circulation, class A misdemeanor; endangering the welfare of a child, class A misdemeanor; fourth degree criminal mischief (prevent communication), a class A misdemeanor; fourth degree criminal mischief (intentionally damage property), a class A misdemeanor; second degree harassment, a violation; second degree unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; and on a New York State Parole Warrant for a violation of parole.
At 7:02 a.m. on the above date, Columbia County 911 transferred a call to Hudson Police reporting a domestic dispute in the area of Columbia Turnpike. The caller stated that a woman was screaming for help.
Officers Chris Duntz and Ashley Stroka responded to the area of the incident. The female victim told them that Mr. Couitt was down the street. Officers located him and got into a brief foot chase around the neighborhood.
Mr. Couitt circled back to the residence on foot and was found hiding in the bedroom. He was detained by police at the scene.
Police say the victim told them that Mr. Couitt allegedly attacked and choked her while she had her infant child. During the alleged violence, Mr. Couitt also allegedly took the victim’s cell phone so she was unable to call the police. Mr. Couitt was taken to the Police Department for processing and to await arraignment.
Police report that Mr. Couitt is currently on New York State Parole. He was convicted of second degree robbery, a class C felony. The Parole Department issued a warrant for Mr. Couitt following the above violent domestic attack.
He was arraigned before Hudson City Court Judge John Connor bail was set at $100 cash or $1,000 bond on the new charges. He was sent to the Columbia County Jail on the active parole warrant. Mr. Couitt is due back in court at a later date. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Greenport Police Department assisted HPD with the investigation and arrest.
*Hudson City Police Department detectives arrested Johnny L. Copeland Jr., 31, of Hudson on felony drug charges October 22.
Mr. Copeland was arrested on an active indictment warrant out of Columbia County Superior Court issued October 1 for third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell) and third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (narcotic drug).
The charges are class B felonies that stem from a search warrant executed on Allen Street February 13 by the Hudson police detectives. An amount of fentanyl, a narcotic drug, was allegedly found in Mr. Copeland’s apartment along with a scale and numerous white glassine envelopes.
Mr. Copeland was arraigned before County Judge Jonathan Nichols, October 22. He was released and due back to the Columbia County Court at a later date.
The State Police, VGNET unit, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office assisted HPD with the investigation and arrest.
