MONTICELLO – The latest unemployment figures in Sullivan County show the numbers have gone down from 10.8 percent to 6.6 percent.
The Director of the County Center for Workforce Development, Laura Quigley, said the improved picture is largely due to two businesses.
“That was a drop of the number of people unemployed of 1,900. A good chunk of that are the people that got called back to the casino, which they have now called back about 1,000 employees, and then you have YO1 (luxury spa) that brought back 85 people, so that is a good thing,” Quigley said.
Unemployment across the Hudson Valley/Catskills has gone down regionwide in the last month.
