Boy reports beating and robbery by three on Hudson street

HUDSON—City Police Department received a transferred 911 call from a victim reporting that he had just been assaulted. Tuesday, July 14 at 6:52 pm.

Patrols responded to the area of Warren Street and First Street and located the victim, a juvenile resident of Hudson. He advised police that he was riding his bicycle on Warren Street just above Front Street when a group came up to him and began attacking him. He said the suspects punched him in the jaw and face several times causing him to fall off of his bicycle. After assaulting him, they allegedly stole the victim’s bicycle and his backpack.

The backpack contained cash and a debit card among other items.

Greenport Rescue Squad took the victim to Columbia Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are developing leads about the group—believed to be three juveniles.

*Hudson Police received a call from a homeowner, who lives on lower Union Street about a burglary in progress,Friday, July 10 at around 6:27 a.m.

The caller told police she was away on vacation and received notification on the phone that her home security cameras were activated. She said she had remotely observed a male and a female breaking into her home through the kitchen window.

Hudson Police responded immediately and found that the suspects were still in the residence. The suspects tried to get away but were quickly apprehended by police, who also recovered the proceeds of the burglary.

The suspects involved were 16- and 17-year-old juveniles. They were arraigned before County Judge Jonathan Nicholas and released. They are due back to the Columbia County Court at a later date. They were charged with second degree burglary, a class C felony; fourth degree criminal mischief and petit larceny, both class A misdemeanors. Their names will not be released due to their ages.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Hudson City Police Detective Division assisted in the above felony investigation.
