Wanted Fugitive from Florida Arrested
On Friday 14, 2020 the Hudson City Police Department captured a wanted Felon from the State of Florida. HPD patrol officers arrested 50 year old, CHRISTOPHER SIMMONS, a current resident of Hudson. SIMMONS is wanted by Hillsborough County, Florida on felony drug and illegal gun possession charges.
SIMMONS was also arrested and charged in New York State by Hudson Police for the following;
Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree – Class A Misdemeanor
Criminal Mischief 4th Degree – Class A Misdemeanor
Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree – Class A Misdemeanor
Resisting Arrest – Class A Misdemeanor
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana - violation
On Friday 14, 2020, at around 4:38pm the City of Hudson Police Patrol units conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of North 3rd and Warren Street for a traffic infraction.
Officers Randy Strattman and Jessica Mausolf approached the vehicle which was being operated by a female with SIMMONS as passenger. After a brief exchange, SIMMONS bolted from the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Shortly thereafter HPD received a call from a resident located on the 200 block of Columbia Street reporting that a person had just forced open their back door and was now in their apartment. The patrol quickly arrived at the residence, located SIMMONS hiding in the basement, and took him into custody without further incident.
SIMMONS was arraigned in City Court before Judge Brian Herman. SIMMONS was remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail and is scheduled to return to court on 2/20/20 at 830am. It is expected he will be returned to Florida to answer charges there.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office assisted HPD with the investigation.
