A NEW LEBANON MAN FACES ANIMAL CRUELTY

CHARGES, AFTER HIS ARREST BY STATE

POLICE. COLUMBIA GREENE HUMANE SOCIETY

OFFICIALS SAY 30 YEAR OLD DANIEL BIVENS

FAILED TO PROVIDE FOOD OR MEDICAL CARE

FOR HIS DOG. HE WAS CHARGED AT HIS HOME

ON ROUTE 20. THE DOG, NAMED REAPER,

IS BEING CARED FOR AT THE SHELTER.

THREE DOLLAR STORES WILL HAVE TO PAY

OVER 1.2 MILLION IN FINES, FOR SELLING

EXPIRED MEDICATIONS AND OTHER PRODUCTS.

THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE

ANNOUNCED THE SETTLEMENT MONDAY,

WITH DOLLAR TREE, FAMILY DOLLAR, AND

DOLLAR GENERAL. THE CHAINS ALSO FAILED

TO COMPLY WITH THE STATE'S BOTTLE

DEPOSIT LAW.

MONEY IS ON THE WAY TO COLUMBIA

COUNTY, AND 15 OTHER COUNTIES, TO

HELP REDUCE THE NUMBER OF DRUG

OVERDOSES. THE COLUMBIA COUNTY

HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORTS, COLUMBIA

COUNTY WILL RECEIVE OVER 191 THOUSAND

DOLLARS THROUGH COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK.

A PICKUP TRUCK BURNED MONDAY AFTERNOON,

AT THE BANK OF GREENE COUNTY BRANCH ON

MAIN STREET IN HUNTER. THE CALLER TOLD

GREENE COUNTY 9 1 1 THAT THE TRUCK WAS

BURNING, AND THERE WAS NOBODY AROUND.

AFTERNOON. THE CALL CAME IN JUST

BEFORE 5.

THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

IS PREPARING FOR WINTER, AND LOOKING

TO FILL OVER 500 JOB OPENINGS ACROSS

THE STATE. OF THOSE 500, 65 ARE IN

THE CAPITAL REGION, AND 90 IN THE HUDSON

VALLEY.
