IT WAS NOT EASY CROSSING THE RIP VAN

WINKLE BRIDGE LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

AN ACCIDENT IN THE WESTBOUND LANES ON

THE GREENE COUNTY SIDE BACKED UP

TRAFFIC FOR MILES. A 57 YEAR OLD MAN

WAS INJURED IN THE CRASH AROUND 2:30.

BACKUPS COULD STILL BE FOUND TWO HOURS

LATER BECAUSE OF FRIDAY AFTERNOON VOLUME.

ONE PERSON WAS TAKEN TO COLUMBIA MEMORIAL

YESTERDAY MORNING, FOLLOWING A TWO CAR

ACCIDENT IN GREENPORT. THE CRASH WAS

JUST AFTER 10 ON ROUTE 9 SOUTH OF KIPP

ROAD. TWO OTHER PASSENGERS REFUSED

MEDICAL TREATMENT.

A STUYVESANT MAN IS ACCUSED OF INJURING

A WOMAN, AND PREVENTING HER FROM

LEAVING THE RESIDENCE. THE COLUMBIA

COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ARRESTED 41

YEAR OLD DAVID LONG. HE HAS A COURT

APPEARANCE SEPTEMBER 4TH.

AN ASHLAND MAN WAS TAKEN TO THE

GREENE COUNTY JAIL AFTER AN ALTERCATION

IN CATSKILL. VILLAGE POLICE CHARGED

36 YEAR OLD JAMES HARTLEY WITH

ASSAULT. BAIL WAS SET AT 250 DOLLARS.

A CHATHAM MAN WAS ARRESTED FOR AN

INCIDENT IN THE VILLAGE OF COXSACKIE. 44

YEAR OLD BRANDON SNOOKS WAS CHARGED BY

STATE POLICE WITH AGGRAVATED HARASSMENT.

HE'LL ANSWER THE CHARGES IN COURT.

NEW YORK'S RED FLAG LAW GOES INTO

EFFECT TODAY. THE LAW ALLOWS AUTHORITIES

TO REMOVE GUNS FROM PEOPLE, WHO THEY

THINK, POSE A THREAT TO THEMSELVES OR

TO THE PUBLIC. POLICE, DISTRICT ATTORNEYS,

SCHOOL OFFICIALS, OR HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS

CAN APPEAR BEFORE A JUDGE TO MAKE THE

REQUEST.

THE ROUTE 66 BRIDGE IN GHENT RE-OPENED

TO TRAFFIC YESTERDAY MORNING. THE BRIDGE

OVER THE KLEIN KILL WAS CLOSED SINCE

JUNE FOR REPLACEMENT. IT OPENED

RIGHT ON SCHEDULE, IN TIME FOR COLUMBIA

COUNTY FAIR TRAFFIC.
