SCHOOL WERE EVACUATED YESTERDAY

AFTERNOON, WHEN SMOKE BEGAN FILLING

A CLASSROOM. IT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE

3 IN CLASSROOM C-2. FIREFIGHTERS

TRACED THE PROBLEM TO A FAILED

TRANSFORMER IN AN AIR CONDITIONING

UNIT. THERE WAS SOME SMOKE DAMAGE.

OVER 1700 NATIONAL GRID CUSTOMERS

WERE WITHOUT POWER TUESDAY AFTERNOON

IN PARTS OF CLAVERACK, GREENPORT,

AND HUDSON. THE OUTAGE BEGAN AFTER 1
