PROTESTERS AGAINST BUILDING A NEW

GREENE COUNTY JAIL PACKED LAST NIGHT'S

LEGISLATURE MEETING, FOR WHAT WAS GOING

TO BE A VOTE TO RESCIND THE DECISION TO

BUILD THE JAIL. LAWMAKERS AGREED TO WAIT

TWO WEEKS, TO SEE IF STATE LAWMAKERS

COULD GIVE THEM A COMMITMENT THAT THEY

ARE PLANNING TO CHANGE A STATE LAW,

TO ALLOW TWO COUNTIES TO CO-OWN A JAIL.

THEY PLAN TO MEET AGAIN BEFORE THE END

OF THE MONTH.

A TROY MAN IS IN THE COLUMBIA COUNTY JAIL,

ACCUSED OF TRYING TO FLEE STATE POLICE

ON THE TACONIC PARKWAY. 22 YEAR OLD

JORDAN MAIR WAS ARRESTED AFTER LOSING

CONTROL ON THE ROUTE 203 OFF RAMP IN

AUSTERLITZ. HE FACES NUMEROUS CHARGES,

INCLUDING 11 COUNTS OF RECKLESS

ENDANGERMENT.

A CAIRO MAN WILL SPEND THE NEXT TWO

YEARS IN PRISON FOR POSSESSING A HANDGUN.

24 YEAR OLD MICHAEL GREENHOLTZ WAS

SENTENCED IN FEDERAL COURT. HE IS

PROHIBITED FROM OWNING A FIREARM BECAUSE

HE IS A CONVICTED FELON.

FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS WERE ON THE SCENE

OF AN ACCIDENT YESTERDAY MORNING IN DURHAM.

IT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE 10 ON CORNWALVILLE

ROAD.

IT WAS AN ODOR OF GAS THAT BROUGHT CATSKILL

FIREFIGHTERS TO AN APARTMENT AT 89 WILLIAM

STREET WEDNESDAY EVENING. THE CALL CAME

IN JUST BEFORE 7.

A BILL, THAT WILL ALLOW SCHOOL DISTRICTS

TO MOUNT CAMERAS ON THE STOP ARM OF

THEIR BUSES HEADS TO THE GOVERNOR FOR

HIS SIGNATURE, FOLLOWING PASSAGE YESTERDAY

SEAT BELTS.

THE TWO DEMOCRAT CANDIDATES FOR MAYOR IN

THE CITY OF HUDSON ARE SCHEDULED TO

DEBATE TONIGHT. MAYOR RICK RECTOR IS

BEING CHALLENGED BY KAMAL JOHNSON IN

THE JUNE 25TH PRIMARY. IT TAKES PLACE

AT THE MONTGOMERY C. SMITH ELEMENTARY

SCHOOL STARTING AT 6.
