OPPONENTS OF THE NEW GREENE COUNTY

JAIL ARE MAKING ANOTHER EFFORT

TONIGHT, TO STOP CONSTRUCTION ON A

NEW JAIL. A RESOLUTION TO RESCIND THE

BOND, WHICH WAS APPROVED LAST SEPTEMBER,

WILL BE PUT BEFORE THE FULL LEGISLATURE.

A TWO THIRDS MAJORITY WOULD BE NEEDED

TO PASS. JAIL OPPONENTS BEGAN FIGHTING

THE JAIL AGAIN, AFTER THE STATE

ELIMINATED BAIL FOR MANY CRIMES.

TWO SELKIRK RESIDENTS ARE FACING FELONY

ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES, AFTER A CHIHUAHUA

WAS PUT INTO A PLASTIC BAG AND THROWN

INTO A DUMPSTER. A NEIGHBOR FOUND THE

SEMI-CONSCIOUS, MALNOURISHED DOG, WHICH

HAD TO BE EUTHANIZED BY A VET. TA-VON

SCHEDULED COURT APPEARANCES.

HUDSON FIREFIGHTERS WERE CALLED TO

POWER AVENUE AT SOUTH THIRD STREET

TO MAKE REPAIRS.

HUDSON FIRE WAS CALLED BACK TO

THE SAME INTERSECTION, WITH GREENPORT

RESCUE ABOUT AN HOUR LATER FOR A

TWO CAR ACCIDENT. ANY INJURIES WERE

MINOR. HUDSON POLICE INVESTIGATED.

IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE THAT BROUGHT

EAST DURHAM FIREMEN TO A HOME ON

ENCHANTED VALLEY ROAD YESTERDAY

AFTERNOON. THE CALLER REPORTED HEARING

SPARKING IN THE BASEMENT AFTER IT

FLOODED. THE HOME WAS EVACUATED

BEFORE FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED.

A DOMESTIC INCIDENT IN CAIRO ENDED

WITH A TOWN MAN UNDER ARREST. 32 YEAR

OLD DELAWAN RAPHAEL WAS CHARGED BY

STATE POLICE WITH CRIMINAL OBSTRUCTION

OF BREATHING, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, AND

CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA.

STATE POLICE WERE CALLED TO A REPORT

OF A SUSPICIOUS PERSON ON COUNTY ROUTE

26A IN STUYVESANT MONDAY. THEY ENDED

UP ARRESTING 29 YEAR OLD HECTOR SOTO.

HE WAS CHARGED WITH TRESPASS AND

HARASSMENT, AND GIVEN APPEARANCE

TICKETS FOR COURT.
