AN INMATE AT THE GREENE CORRECTIONAL

FACILITY HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH MURDER,

FOR THE STRANGULATION DEATH OF HIS

CELL MATE LAST NOVEMBER. 40 YEAR OLD

ANTHONY PARADISE WAS INDICTED BY A

GREENE COUNTY GRAND JURY. HE WAS

ARRAIGNED YESTERDAY.

FOLLOWING HIS ARREST IN SARATOGA COUNTY

ON DWI CHARGES, THE SUPERINTENDENT AT

ICHABOD CRANE CENTRAL SCHOOLS WAS

GRANTED A VOLUNTARY, UNPAID LEAVE OF

ABSENCE LAST NIGHT BY THE SCHOOL BOARD.

IN MICHAEL VANYO'S ABSENCE, ASSISTANT

SUPERINTENDENT SUZANNE GUNTLOW WILL

BE ACTING SUPERINTENDENT.

COLUMBIA AND GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF'S

HAVE WEIGHED IN ON THE STATE'S POLICY

NOT TO RELEASE MUGSHOTS. COLUMBIA

COUNTY SHERIFF DAVID BARTLETT SAYS

HE IS STANDING WITH HIS FELLOW

SHERIFF'S AND WILL CONTINUE TO

RELEASE THEM. GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF

GREG SEELEY WANTS TO DO A LITTLE

MORE RESEARCH, BUT WILL MORE THAN

LIKELY CONTINUE TO RELEASE THEM

AS WELL.

FIVE FIRE COMPANIES WERE CALLED TO

A KITCHEN FIRE TUESDAY MORNING, IN AN

APARTMENT BUILDING AT 40 PATS LANE

IN STOCKPORT. THE CALL CAME IN JUST

AFTER 10. ARRIVING UNITS REPORTED A

GREASE FIRE HAD SPREAD TO THE FLOOR

AND WAS PUT OUT QUICKLY. THE RESCUE

SQUAD CHECKED OUT ONE OF THE RESIDENTS.

ONE PERSON WAS INJURED LAST NIGHT IN

A TWO CAR ACCIDENT IN HUDSON. THE

CRASH HAPPENED JUST AFTER 9:30 AT

6TH AND COLUMBIA STREETS.

OTHER ACCIDENTS YESTERDAY, WERE IN

THE SOUTHBOUND LANES OF THE THRUWAY

IN COXSACKIE, AND ON PINEKILL MEADOWS

ROAD IN WINDHAM.

BEFORE THE HEAVY RAINS MOVED IN

TUESDAY, GREENE COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS

WERE CALLED TO TWO LARGE BRUSH FIRES.

THEY WERE ON KING HILL ROAD IN

GREENVILLE AND OLD ROUTE 23 IN

CAIRO.
