TODAY IS VILLAGE ELECTION DAY. OF THE

9 VILLAGES ACROSS COLUMBIA AND GREENE

COUNTIES, FIVE HAVE CONTESTED RACES.

IN CHATHAM, FIVE CANDIDATES ARE RUNNING

FOR THREE VILLAGE BOARD SEATS.

IN PHILMONT, THERE IS A RACE FOR MAYOR,

AND 3 RUNNING FOR TWO SEATS ON THE BOARD.

IN CATSKILL, FOUR CANDIDATES ARE RUNNING

FOR TWO VILLAGE BOARD SEATS.

IN ATHENS THERE IS A THREE WAY RACE FOR

MAYOR, PLUS FOUR RUNNING FOR TWO BOARD SEATS.

AND IN TANNERSVILLE, THERE ARE ALSO FOUR

RUNNING FOR TWO VILLAGE BOARD SEATS.

POLLS ARE OPEN FROM NOON TO 9.

A DRUG RAID ON MAIN STREET IN CATSKILL

HAS LANDED TWO RESIDENTS IN THE GREENE

COUNTY JAIL ON FELONY DRUG AND WEAPON

CHARGES. CATSKILL POLICE REPORT THE

ARREST OF 29 YEAR OLD BRITANY DERR

AND 32 YEAR OLD KINARD GETAW. POLICE

RECOVERED COCAINE AND A HANDGUN. BAIL

WAS SET AT 50,000 DOLLARS.

CATSKILL FIRE AND THE GREENE COUNTY

HAZ-MAT TEAM WERE CALLED TO THE CATSKILL

TRANSFER STATION MONDAY MORNING, AFTER

A CAR STRUCK A 2000 GALLON FUEL TANK.

CREWS WERE EVENTUALLY ABLE TO STOP THE

LEAK, AND THE STATION WAS RE-OPENED.

A STUYVESANT MAN HAS BEEN CHARGED,

AFTER A ONE CAR ACCIDENT OVER THE

WEEKEND IN KINDERHOOK. THE CRASH WAS

ON COUNTY ROUTE 21, WHERE THE CAR

STRUCK A TREE. THE DRIVER, 22 YEAR

OLD ANDREW SACCO FACES A LONG LIST

OF CHARGES, INCLUDING DWI.

NIVERVILLE FIRE AND VALATIE RESCUE

RESPONDED TO ROUTE 9H, SOUTH OF KEEGAN

ROAD LAST NIGHT, AFTER A CAR STRUCK

A DEER. THE DRIVER HAD MINOR INJURIES.

STATE POLICE INVESTIGATED.
