JEFFREY BARMEN HAS BEEN ARRESTED AGAIN.THE 44 YEAR OLD MAN WAS CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL CONTEMPT YESTERDAY AT THE COLUMBIA COUNTY COURTHOUSE, FOR ALLEGEDLY VIOLATING ANOTHER ORDER OF PROTECTION. HE WAS HELD ON 10,000 DOLLARA BAIL. BARMEN'S RAPE TRIAL ENDED WITH A HUNG JURY IN DECEMBER, AND HE IS SCHEDULED TO GO ON TRIAL IN MARCH,ON SEPARATE CRIMINAL CONTEMPT CHARGES.


FIREFIGHTERS FROM KINDERHOOK, VALATIE,AND NIVERVILLE WERE ON THE SCENE OF A CHIMNEY FIRE FRIDAY MORNING. THE CALL CAME IN JUST BEFORE 8 AT 85 BROAD STREET.


NEW BALTIMORE FIREMEN ALSO FOUGHT A CHIMNEY FIRE LAST NIGHT. IT WAS REPORTED JUST BEFORE 7:30 AT 1597 RIVER ROAD.


A MONTGOMERY COUNTY MAN WAS HANDED MORE PRISON TIME THIS WEEK, AFTER HIS CONVICTION ON GRAND LARCENY.48 YEAR OLD MICHAEL PETERSON WAS SENTENCED TO 1 AND A THIRD TO 4 YEARS FOR SWITCHING BAR CODES AT A CATSKILL STORE. PETERSON WAS SENTENCED FOR SIMILAR CRIMES, LAST MONTH IN COLUMBIA COUNTY COURT.


AN 18 YEAR OLD FROM STUYVESANT WAS ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY THREATENING A FEMALE VICTIM OVER THE PHONE, AND THEN GOING TO HER RESIDENCE. THE COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAYS HE WAS IN POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL KNIVES AND METAL KNUCKLES. THE TEEN WILL ANSWER THE CHARGES IN TOWN COURT.


JUST AHEAD OF THE ANNUAL CORRECTIONS OFFICERS TRAINING COURSE AT COLUMBIA GREENE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AN INFORMATION SESSION WILL BE HELD THIS MORNING. IT TAKES PLACE FROM 10 TO NOON IN THE PROFESSIONAL ACADEMIC BUILDING.


THE COMMUNITY WILL BE COMING TOGETHER TODAY, TO HELP A LOCAL GIRL WITH BONE CANCER. THE BENEFIT FOR 15 YEAR OLD TAYLOR BLOCK WILL TAKE PLACE AT KINDRED SPIRITS ON ROUTE 32A IN PALENVILLE, BEGINNING AT 2.


THE TOWN OF GREENPORT WILL OPEN A PUBLIC SKATING RINK TOMORROW AT TOWN PARK. THE RINK WILL BE OPEN FOR HOCKEY TEAMS FROM 10 TO 1 AND FOR PUBLIC SKATING FROM 1 TO 4. WEATHER PERMITTING, THE TOWN HOPES TO HAVE THE RINK OPEN EVERY FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.
