Freehold House damaged by fire

Greene County firefighters were called to a house fire Thursday afternoon in Freehold.

Freehold, Greenville, and East Durham volunteers were dispatched to 9601 Route 32, after smoke was seen coming from the building just after 2:30. The residence was evacuated.

There was damage to the home, The fire investigation unit is looking into the cause. No word on injuries.

Route 32 was closed through the fire scene.

American Red Cross Aids Seven After Freehold Fire

(POUGHKEEPSIE, NY) (August 8, 2019) - Volunteers from the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to seven people after a fire Thursday afternoon on State Route 32 in Freehold, Greene County.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to two adults and five children. Volunteers also offered emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items and stuffed animals for the children. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.
