Catskill man sentenced to prison for murder

“35 to Life for Carlos Graham”

On April 4, 2019, the defendant, Carlos Graham, 32, was sentenced to 25 years to life in State Prison on his conviction of Murder 2nd PLUS an additional 10 years for the additional charges that he was convicted of, making a total sentence of 35 years to life.

Graham was arrested in February 2018 after an intense investigation conducted by the Woodstock Police Department, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, New York State Police and Greene County District Attorney’s Office.

As a result of this investigation, Graham was charged with the following offenses: Murder in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Felony, 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Concealment of a Human Corpse, a Class E Felony and 2 Counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence: Conceal/Destroy, a Class E Felony.

Graham was convicted on February 15, 2019 of all of the above charges after the jury deliberated for a day and a half.

The jury found that Graham obtained a gun from a person in Columbia County hours before the murder. He then set out to kill Brandyn Foster. He then shot and killed Brandyn Foster and buried his body in the crawlspace under the floor of his bedroom.

This was egregious crime for which Carlos Graham earned every day of the sentence that Judge Wilhelm imposed against him.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 2, 2019. He could be sentenced to a term of up to 25 years to life in State Prison. PRESS RELEASE

 On February 15, 2018, New York State Police arrested Carlos Graham, age 31 of Catskill, for Murder 2nd Degree, a class A1 felony, as a result of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Brandyn Foster. 

Foster was first reported missing to police at the end of January of 2017. The year long, multi-agency investigation was conducted by State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, town of Woodstock Police, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, the Greene County District Attorney’s Office, and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. 

This extensive investigation resulted in the recovery of Brandyn Foster’s body which had been buried on property located on Tool House Rd in the Town of Catskill. Foster was residing at that property on Tool House Rd at the time of his disappearance and his death was ultimately ruled a homicide following an autopsy.

Graham was located at a private residence in the town of Catskill by the State Police and taken into custody without incident with the assistance of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. Graham was arraigned in the town of Cairo Court and was committed to the Greene County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
