Traffic stop turns up 75 pounds of pot

PRESS RELEASE

Ravena, NY – On February 1, 2019, at approximately 1:32 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the village of Ravena for a vehicle and traffic violation. While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle was established. The driver, Amirah F. Barros, 24, of Schenectady, NY, was found to be in possession of approximately 75 pounds of marijuana. Barros was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Albany where she was subsequently charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of Marijuana 1 st  degree; a Class C Felony
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration 2 nd  degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violation

Barros was arraigned before the Village of Ravena Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or bond. A return court date of February 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Village of Ravena has been set.
