PRESS RELEASE

Thomas J. Mercer was arrested on 07/11/2018 by the State Police investigators following a joint investigation with Schoharie County Child Protective Services into Mercer sexually abusing a 7-year old victim in the Town of Carlisle, Schoharie County, NY. 

Mercer, who is 25 years of age, pled guilty in Schoharie County Court on 01/16/2018 to one count of Sexual Abuse 1st . He was sentenced to confinement not to exceed three years with five years of post-release supervision. Mercer was additionally served with an Order of Protection and required to submit a DNA sample as part of the plea agreement.

A Greenville man is charged with sexual abuse and acting in a manner to injure a child. State Police say, 24 year old Thomas Mercer had sexual contact with a six year old girl in November 2017. He was arrested Monday and was sent to the Greene County Jail on $25,000 dollars bail. Senior investigator Kusminsky says the abuse happened on several occasions and Mercer was known to the family.
