Hudson
Hudson City Police arrested Ntchota J. Badila, a/k/a, “Drippy,” 30, of Hudson on charges of third degree assault, three counts of fourth degree criminal mischief, fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest, Saturday, October 3. All the above criminal charges are class A misdemeanors. Mr. Badila was also arrested by the Hudson Police on an active felony warrant out of the Town of Greenport.
On the above date at 10:51 a.m., City Police received a complaint from a resident of the teen block of Union Street that somebody entered her parked vehicle on Union Street without her permission and had stolen a hat and reusable shopping bags.
Officer Larry Edelman located Mr. Badila, who was allegedly wearing the stolen hat on the 400 block of Warren Street. It was discovered that Mr. Badila was wanted on an active felony warrant for possession of stolen property (stolen motor vehicle complaint) issued by the Town of Greenport.
Mr. Badila allegedly attempted to flee from officers on his bicycle. He then allegedly rammed his bicycle into Officer Chris Duntz, who was pursuing him on his patrol bicycle.
Both men fell to the ground and the chase continued on foot.
Patrols were able to locate and apprehend Mr. Badila on the 300 block of Prison Alley.
Officer Duntz received medical attention at Columbia Memorial Hospital for the injuries sustained in the crash. The officer’s uniform, body camera and bicycle were also damaged.
The Greenport Rescue Squad took Mr. Badila to the hospital after he complained of pain. Both men were treated and released.
Mr. Badila was arraigned in Hudson City Court before Judge Brian Herman. He was released on his own recognizance and was due back in Hudson City Court at a later date.
After arraignment, Mr. Badila was taken to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office for processing on the Greenport felony warrant. He was subsequently arraigned in Greenport Court and was released with a return date of November 2.
Greenport
A road rage incident led to the arrest of both drivers involved by sheriff’s deputies, September 26 at 2:42 p.m. The incident initially took place on Joslen Boulevard in Greenport, as both cars were traveling southbound.
One vehicle was operated by David R. Minkler, 55, of Hudson and the other was operated by Karl W. Knowles, 39, of Catskill. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
As the vehicles proceeded southbound, Mr. Knowles passed Mr. Minkler, and the vehicles collided.
Mr. Knowles then exited his vehicle with a knife which he used to allegedly damage the door of the Minkler vehicle.
Mr. Minkler then allegedly intentionally rammed into the Knowles vehicle, and left the scene. Mr. Knowles then got back in his vehicle, and followed Mr. Minkler.
Columbia County 911 was notified by the parties, and they both drove to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, where deputies intervened and investigated the incident.
When the investigation was finished, Deputies Timothy Gladwin and Brian McSween arrested Mr. Minkler for reckless driving and second degree reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors. Deputies charged Mr. Knowles with reckless driving and fourth degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. The two men were issued appearance tickets directing them to appear in Greenport Court at a later date to answer the charges.
Kinderhook
Sarah E. Suckow, 22, of Chatham was stopped for speeding on State Route 9H, by Deputies Stephen Naegeli and Jason Garvey, September 30 at 12:42 p.m.
During the stop, deputies found Ms. Suckow to allegedly possess concentrated cannabis and marijuana. She was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; second degree unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; and speeding. She was issued tickets directing her to appear in Kinderhook Town Court to answer then charges.
