City of Kingston
• DWI:Arthur L. Rennie, 60, of Saugerties, was arrested by state police at Coxsackie at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, and was charged with drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol content at or exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors. Rennie was released with tickets for Kingston City Court.
Cairo
• Endangering:Matthew J. Williams, 28, of Cairo, was arrested by state police at Catskill at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, and was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, assault and criminal mischief (preventing an emergency call), all misdemeanors. Williams was released with tickets for Cairo Town Court.
• DWI:David M. Douglas, 57, of Athens, was arrested by state police at Catskill at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, and was charged with drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol content at or exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors. Douglas was released with tickets for Cairo Town Court.
Denning
• Contempt:Tracy E. Thomas, 49, of Denning was arrested by Ulster County sheriff’s deputies at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, on Red Hills Knolls Road, and was charged with criminal contempt of a court order of protection and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors, and with harassment, a violation. Thomas is alleged to have violated an order of protection issued by Denning Town Court and to have prevented the victim from calling 911 by disabling the only phone in the residence. She was released with tickets for Denning Town Court.
Esopus
• Drugs:David H. Smith, 35, of Kingston, was arrested by Ulster County sheriff’s deputies following a traffic stop on Lakeview Terrace, deputies said Thursday, Aug. 27. Smith is alleged to have possessed approximately 250 bags of heroin after a search of the vehicle by police dog Jack. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and the traffic infraction of failing to signal a turn. He was released with a ticket for Esopus Town Court.
Hyde Park
• Sexual performance by a child:John V. Allers, 67, of Hyde Park, was arrested by state police at Rhinebeck at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, and was charged with possession of a sexual performance by a child, a felony. Allers was released with a ticket for Hyde Park Town Court.
Lloyd
• Drugs:Sequamn O. Storts, 26, of Hyde Park, was arrested by state police at Highland at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, and was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. Storts was released with a ticket for Lloyd Town Court.
Town of Ulster
• Grand larceny:Melonie R. Mahfouz, 39, of the state of Florida, was arrested by state police at Ulster at noon Wednesday, Aug. 27, and was charged with grand larceny, possession of a forged instrument (two counts), identity theft and aggravated identity theft to obtain goods valued at more than $500, all felonies, and with possession of stolen property, a misdemeanors. Mahfouz was sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail pending a court appearance.
Woodstock
• DWI:Aaron L. Simpson, 38, of Woodstock, was arrested by state police at Ulster at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, and was charged with drunken driving and with driving with a blood-alcohol content at or exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors. Simpson was released with tickets for Woodstock Town Court.
