Press Release- Robbery Suspect Apprehended

Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputies and Hudson Police Department officers joined forces to make significant progress toward solving a string of recent convenience store larcenies.

A detail made up of Sheriff Deputies and Investigators together with Hudson Police Detectives and Officers converged to arrest a local man after he was located outside a business at 160 Fairview Avenue in the Town of Greenport.

JALEEL A. MARTIN, age 22 , of Hudson tried to evade the officers and was arrested after a brief struggle, where three offices were injured. Two Deputies and one Hudson police Detective have been examined and treated at Columbia Memorial Hospital for various abrasions, contusions, and joint injuries.

MARTIN, who had an active parole warrant was immediately remained to the Columbia County Jail. MARTIN was on parole after a previous Robbery conviction.

MARTIN is the prime suspect in the February 4, 2020 larceny of the Quick Mart on Green Street in Hudson where $166 dollars was taken after smashing the store’s cash register.The Sheriff’s Department, New York State Police and Hudson Police are working to piece together evidence from at least four other similar convenience store larcenies. Arrests are pending as the investigation continues. At this time MARTIN is only being held for his alleged violation of parole.
