Travel Advisory: Paving on Two Segments of Route 9W in Greene County Begins May 8
Motorists are advised to slow down and watch for workers as the New York State Department of Transportation paves two segments of Route 9W in Greene County this month.
DOT will mill and repave an approximate 0.3-mile stretch of Route 9W between Route 23A and Boulevard Avenue in Catskill starting Wednesday, May 8, weather permitting. Work should be completed by the end of the following week.
DOT will also mill and repave an approximate 1.1-mile segment of Route 9W in West Coxsackie between Mansion Street Extension and the overpass above the New York State Thruway starting May 13. Work should be completed by the end of the following week.
On both segments, motorists should allow for extra time in their travels and expect to see weekday daytime lane shifts and lane reductions with flagging personnel as needed.
Motorists are urged to slow down and safely move over when approaching roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones. Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
