A one car accident shut down Route 9H in West Ghent Friday afternoon. West Ghent Fire and Valatie rescue were called to an area just north of Kinderhook Toyota around 2:45.
A car reportedly struck a pole, and went over a guard rail and ended up in a swampy area.
One person was taken to Columbia Memorial.
The location the car landed, proved to be difficult for tow companies to recover it.
The road was closed for an extended period.
State Police and Columbia County Sheriff's Deputies were on the scene.
